Subject:acne-not on yasmin
Posted by:aliatard.
Time:8:44 pm.
i have shit insurance, a shit doctor, a shit derm, etc. i have just about every topical, though- OTC and prescription. i was getting some nasty bacne for a minute, but that's going away now, but now my face is looking to' up. i'm thinking it's hormonal, as i just started a birth control pill again, loestrin 24 fe, 3 days ago (coincidentally, to clear up my back). i've taken aviane/aleese before and it helped my skin, but i seemed to gain weight on it, so i'm stuck.

anyone have any experience with these aforementioned BCs? anyone swear by a BC that keeps you clear and doesn't make you gain crazy weight? should i try ortho? i can't afford yaz.

i do take vitex/chasteberry, an herb used to regulate hormones which i dunno if it's helping.

also, the doc gave me some antibiotics for my skin (doxycycline) and i threw up this morning after i took 'em. i'll try again tomorrow with food, even though it's supposed to be taken on any empty stomach, and even though I HATE TAKING ANTIBIOTICS AS I AM PRETTY MUCH A NATURAL MEDICINE GIRL AND KNOW HOW BAD THEY ARE FOR YOU IN THE LONG RUN.

one more thing, my skin is pretty dry lately (i've stopped tanning since december, i moisturize like a fiend, take omegas, drink at least 8 BOTTLES of water daily, and i use a humidifer), but it's still dry. and no, it's not eczema. i got rid of that by doing cleanses.

any input (birth control shout outs, supplement suggestions, etc) would be appreciated soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much.

Subject:Finishing my first month!
Posted by:static_ip.
Time:5:04 pm.
Today I've been reading lots of reviews of Yasmin to try and figure out if it was alright to have unprotected sex with my boyfriend while on the placebos. I've decided to use condoms just in case. While making my decision I read multiple "horror" stories from women who had been taking Yasmin and noted that many of them were suffering multiple side effects. I would like to take this time to describe my first month of Yasmin to perhaps counter balance all the negative I have just been reading about this ultra-low dose HBC.

To begin I will tell you that I am 24 year old non-smoker/drug user and have been a vegetarian since I was 18, and I will call my lifestyle one of Medium Activity. I live in a city and tend to walk or bike wherever I go but I do not take time out of my day to practice any traditional exercise methods. Yasmin is the first HBC I have ever used.

I started Yasmin the first day of my period, 21 days ago. Tomorrow I start my first placebo pill, and while I realize I do not need to take them I am a very forgetful person and loose track of time. This first month of being on Yasmin has, for the most part, been as if I had not started a hormonal medication at all.

I have not experienced any extra bleeding, migraines, emotional fits, or weight gain. I have experienced enlarged and tender breasts, like I get right before my period. My appetite has, for the most part, been cut back and I am able to leave a plate with food and accept that I am full. The amount of liquids I consume on a daily basis has grown significantly thus I find myself using the bathroom more frequently. I have also noticed that my stool has been looser than normal and not as regular as I was before. I have not decided whether it is Yasmin completely or the change in how much I've been eating.

To comment on acne, since it is a popular topic for those using HBC's, I have noticed a ever so slight improvement on my face. The acne not being as deep or painful as it was before, however, I do still have acne. I am waiting to see how the placebo week treats me.

I take my pill at 2pm and occasionally I would feel nauseous after taking it with my daily multi-vitamin and decided that it was the multi-vitamin that was causing the nausea so I take that after I have eaten a full meal and not at the same time I take Yasmin. The nausea has not bothered me for the past week so I assume I guessed correctly that it was the Multi-vitamin causing some imbalance.

I find myself less stressed than normal and I would have been considered someone with a high stress lifestyle. I have also found that I am not bothered by the less stress where before I would have found other things to be stressed about to make up the difference.

Overall I can say that Yasmin has been a positive experience for me and has allowed my boyfriend of 5 years and I to have unprotected and spontaneous sex for the first time ever. I would not hesitate to recommend Yasmin to any other woman looking for a low dose HBC.

I just finished my first pack of Yasmin and I am not a happy camper.

Is it common to gain a substantial amount of weight in the first month? Because I have been crazy hungry and I can't do anything about it! We don't have a scale in my house but I know that my once "comfy jeans" that I wore when I was feeling lazy because they're loose, are horribly snug. I can barely button them up. As goes for the pair of jeans I bought in December that were just a bit snug (back in Dec I had been losing weight and thought that they would probably fit well in a month or two)...now I can't even put them over my thighs.

It's certainly a blow to my self-esteem. I've also found that since starting I've had horrible cramps everyday, without having my period. They only last for about 20 seconds, but I have to stop what I'm doing because it's so painful, and it happens more than once a day. Is that normal?

I'm completely new to BC, I started because my periods were coming every two weeks, and my PMS was really intense to the point where I found myself severely depressed the week before my periods. I don't really know what I should be expecting while being on it...

Subject:Yasmin with Plan B
Posted by:katdawgger.
Time:1:04 pm.
I am a Wednesday starter and usually get my period on Saturday. On Thursday night I had sex and he came inside me. To be extra safe, we bought the morning after bill the next morning. I took the first pill at 11am, the next at 11pm. I kept taking my yasmin as I always have been and I haven't had my period yet.
Why would that be? I understand that I could very well be pregnant, but could it also be because of the morning after pill is taking more hormones away from me than I thought?
I'm planning on talking to a doctor soon, but I was just wondering what your thoughts were and whether or not I should of continued to take my Yasmin or not or any helpful hints. Do you know much about Plan B?
Thank you.

I got impatient and took my pill a few days before my period.
(I took plan B the day before, going back on yasmin after 2 month break)
Does this mean my period will skip this month? :/
Or maybe I should just give it a few more days

my period only lasted 2 days. it stopped the 3rd day and this morning i had alittle spotting.
Last month I missed a pill so I did what it said and took the two the next day.
Is it because of that or could I be pregnant? O_o

I'am extremely disspointed. I started yasmin about five months ago, I'm on my 6th pack now. My skin has never EVER been this bad before, prior birth control.. I know everyone is different but every month it is making my skin worse then it already is. Did anyone else's skin take longer then five months to clear? I told my gynocologist i didn't want to go on B/C unless it helped my skin and she assured me it would. So i got off of my skin meds to go on this and it's only made it 10x worse.

Subject:The stuff that is not in the book.....

2 questions:

Lets say you drop one placebo week to skip your period. How do you treat the new 3 weeks when it comes to accidentally taking a pill more than 12 hours late? Would the new week 3,4 and 5 (I call it that since you have 6 weeks of pills and then one placebo week, I hope you follow me) be treated as week 2 (where you don't have to use backup) or as week 3 (where you either stop or continue longer). This got messy, I'm not so much worried about the birth control part of it, just wondering what other people do or have been told to do.

What do you do when you become one day ahead on your pill? I once thought it was wednesday, and saw that my tuesday pill and wednesday pill was still in the packet, and I thought I forgot yesterday's pill and almost took both of them. But I checked a calendar in time and realized it was only tuesday and I didn't forget anything. If I had taken two pills that day, would I be ok to just wait 48 hours until I took the next one on thursday (to still finish on the same day I was suppose to), or should I have moved everything one day closer so I started my placebos one day early?

Thanks for the help. I'm just curious, there's no emergency.

Is it okay to have unprotected sex after your last yellow pill in the pack? Like while your waiting to get your period?

Subject:irregular period starting date
Posted by:agenda.
Time:9:23 pm.
Hey, all. I've been taking Yasmin since December 2004, so it's been about two and a half years now. I've never changed the time I take my pill, the day I start on, or combined pill packs. I'm a pretty devoted user: 10 PM on the dot. And yes, I am in the process of trying to get an appointment with my gynecologist.

Except for the first few months, my period on Yasmin has been miraculously regular. I could time it down to the day on Wednesday. After a little while it shifted to Thursday, but I wasn't about to start complaining. In the past six or seven months, though, every once in a while it will start on a Tuesday -- I mean, I used to start bleeding on a Thursday, and sometimes I'll start bleeding on a Tuesday, like tonight. Normally, I get horrid cramps on Wednesdays, but no bleeding. Today I got bad cramps, and when I went to wipe a few minutes ago, found light staining and some actual deep-red, tissue-y blood.

Does this mean anything? I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening. The last time this happened was back in November, so it's not incredibly common, but now it's happened more than once. Any advice/reassurance on this would be great until I can get in to see my doctor. Thanks!

Hello,

I am at the tail-end of my 2nd month taking Yasmin, and I just have a quick question. I have had no side effects as a result of taking this medication. The only thing is that this morning I wake up and my discharge is a light brown color, which usually happens when I'm about to start my period (so it doesn't look like spotting or anything.) I have 14 pills left, 7 are orange, so I would assume that this would not be the time I should be starting my period. ETA: This month, all my pills have been taken on time.

Last month I accidentally took a pill late, but I took it as soon as I remembered, and my period did come early, lasted for about 3 days (very light) stopped for 1, and then came back and finished. I assume that was due to me taking the pill late (also note I did not have sex during this time.)

I did have sex Wednesday (unprotected) but I don't think this could be implantation or anything. I'm just wondering if anybody else experienced weird bleeding/discharge their first few months?

Thanks for your help!

-S

Is there any way I can sort of...move the week I get my period using my BC?

This is my seventh month on Yasmin, 98% of the time I take it right on the dot, because I'm paranoid. I used it to skip my period once before, for my two year anniversary, but right as I started the second week of the new pack, I started spotting and continued to spot throughout the month until I got my real period. It was such a pain. :-( I read somewhere that the different weeks of pills have different levels of hormones and so that's what could cause the spotting.

I'm just wondering if there's a way around it, or a way to move the period because it's due to arrive this month ON my 20th birthday, and while I don't want that at all, I ALSO don't want to be spotting all throughout May, because I'll be vacationing in Florida for most of it.

Any suggestions, help?

I finished my last pack about a week ago, but I wasn't able to get to the drug store to pick up a new one until today...in the past week, I have gotten more pimples than I can remember having in a long time. Could these two events be related?

Almost a week ago I had a LEEP (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) done. There are 4 stages of cervical cancer. I have stage 3. Cervical cancer is caused by HPV (Human papillomavirus). This is sexually transmitted through genital contact. You can get HPV with or without useing a condom and with or without haveing intercourse. You can get it even by rubbing genitals together.

I found this from a website:

"This is one of the few types of cancer where there are clear early stages which can be diagnosed and treated. The first stage is called CIN 1 and simply means that the cells on the cervix are slightly abnormal. This may have several causes and often clears up after a while. CIN 2 is not cancer, but the cells on the surface of the cervix show a number of cancer-like changes which can be seen under the microscope. The third stage, CIN 3, is close to cancer and is also known as 'carcinoma in situ'. If left untreated, CIN 3 has a 50% chance of developing into cancer."

My doctor called me today and told me that the abnormal tissue shaved off my cervix was an early cancer. He said it looks like he got all of it out. I need to get another check up done mid-July. Then every 6 months after. I cannot get pregnant until my doctor says it's okay to do so. I'm on birth control (Yasmin) now.
